GYDA MOTO BAGS and NOMAD BIKE BAGS EXPLAINED
If you purchased a Nomad bag online from us in the last five years, you actually bought it from our previous brand name. We’ve since redeveloped our range of bags from scratch, while still sticking to our signature barrels and tail packs.
Our new line of bags may look similar to our old Nomad bags, but they are entirely different in terms of size, shape, and functionality. By rebranding, we aim to set ourselves apart and offer adventure riders a unique and distinct product line that’s built to last.
So what's new with our soft bags and range?

Flat underside & 'anti' chafe flap
At GYDA, we understand the challenges that come with using barrel bags for long-distance travel. Rolling and chaffing are common issues that can cause frustration and damage to your gear.
You can say goodbye to rolling and chaffing for good!
Our bags feature a flat underside that's reinforced with our unique 'anti' chafe flap. This flap velcros to the underside of the bag, providing additional protection and preventing damage to your gear. The anti-chafe flap on our new bags provides extra protection and can be easily replaced if it becomes worn or damaged.

Larger top opening with full zip around
We've designed our bags with a larger top opening and a full zip-around, making packing and unpacking a breeze. In the past, our original soft barrel bags had a small top opening that made packing uncomfortable, and separate zips that created a gaping opening at the end.
But with our new design, we've incorporated bigger zips for added sturdiness and an enlarged top opening for more comfortable and convenient packing. With these improvements, our bags are now even easier to use and provide a better overall experience for adventure riders

Fold-over weather flap
We've developed our fold-over weather flap, designed to keep water and dust out of your bag and away from your gear.
While our bags are already splash-proof and made from waterproof PVC, they aren't submerge-proof due to stitching and zips.
However, with our new weather flap, you can keep water ingress from the sides to a minimum. The flap folds around the top part of the bag, providing an extra layer of protection from rain, dust, and other elements.
A Tale of Two Brands: The Evolution of Nomad and Gyda
Back in 2015, Peter King and our company worked together to create ‘Nomad’ as a leading soft luggage brand for adventure riders in South Africa. Despite operating under separate entities – with Peter owning Nomad Bike Bags and our company Nomad Gear – we collaborated on everything from design to manufacturing and sales.
In 2020, Peter decided to take a sabbatical, and in 2021, we mutually agreed to split up. Due to the similar naming of our brands, we rebranded our company to Gyda Moto while Peter continued to operate as Nomad Bike Bags.
While we’ve kept the same basic barrel bag designs, our bags are now manufactured by a quality-controlled factory, and we’ve greatly improved their functionality. At Gyda Moto, we continue to listen to customer feedback and make changes to improve our products and services.
his has resulted in even better product designs that stem from the same product range and set we developed while under the Nomad brand. However, we’ve made several upgrades in all areas that matter for our clients.
At Gyda Moto, we take pride in providing adventure riders with top-of-the-line bags that are not only functional but also visually appealing. Our team has worked tirelessly to improve our bags and service, and we continue to strive for excellence in everything we do. Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or just starting out, you can trust Gyda Moto to provide you with the highest quality soft barrel bags and accessories on the market.
The Evolution of Nomad Gear and Nomad Bags to Gyda Moto
During our partnership, each party was responsible for developing their assets. After the split, we simply kept the assets that we built and paid for.
As the technology and marketing partner, our company built the digital assets such as websites, CRM, email, YouTube, videos, blogs, explainer videos, and all other Nomad assets. Meanwhile, Peter King set up and ran the factory with his machines and staff.
When we decided to split, we each kept our respective assets. As part of rebranding to Gyda Moto, we renamed all the online assets we built and paid for, and completely rebuilt our website from scratch.
As a result, we now operate as a new business under the name Gyda Moto. Our customers who purchased during the partnership were shared, and Peter now has the client list to continue building Nomad Bike Bags as his own brand, just as we can with Gyda Moto.
We’re proud of the work we’ve done with Nomad Gear and Nomad Bags, and we’re excited to continue our journey under the new name of Gyda Moto. Our team is committed to providing adventure riders with the highest quality soft barrel bags and accessories, and we look forward to serving our customers for years to come.
At Gyda Moto, we’re always looking for ways to improve our products and services, and we’re grateful to our loyal customers who have supported us throughout our journey. Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or just starting out, we invite you to join our community and experience the best in adventure gear and accessories.
PUBLIC CLAIMS ABOUT GYDA AND NOMAD DISCUSSED
I am using Nomad images | Incorrect | A New Era: Saying Goodbye to the Name Nomad As our company moves forward under the name Gyda Moto, we’re committed to leaving the name Nomad behind us. Any images that still bear the name Nomad are simply a reflection of our past, including a timeline of posts during which I was also known as Nomad, and proud of it. However, we recognize that using the name Nomad can be confusing, and we’re eager to make a clean break. |
Google search gets Nomad to point to Gyda | Incorrect | The Power of Google: Our Journey to Building a Reputation Online Thanks to the power of Google algorithms and our investment in 5 years of Google AdWords, we’ve been able to build a strong reputation online for soft barrel bags. While we’d love to take credit for Google’s algorithm, we can’t. |
The designs of the bags are the same | Partially correct | While it’s been claimed that our bag designs are the same, it’s akin to saying that Samsung and LG TVs are the same. As someone who’s passionate about barrel bags, I played an equal role in the development of Nomad as my former partner. We were both partners in Nomad for five years, and I want to set the record straight that neither of us can claim to own everything. |
I was contracted to do Nomad marketing | Incorrect | Contrary to claims, I wasn’t simply contracted to do Nomad’s digital marketing as a service. Rather, our relationship was a full-fledged partnership with clear responsibilities and payment from sales for each party. I built my own infrastructure for the business, just as Peter did. |
Peter King owns Nomad | Incorrect | Contrary to claims, the word “Nomad” is a generic term and is used by various companies that make bags. Internally, Peter King operated as Nomad Bike Bags, while I operated as Nomad Bags and Nomad Gear. This was done to formalize our respective business entities. However, we both worked together as “Nomad” and contributed equally to the partnership. While Peter King preferred to operate more publicly using his name, I worked more behind the scenes. Therefore, the notion that Peter King solely owns Nomad is false. |
